How Spellum keeps learning data private.

This notice describes the current Spellum release candidate for iPhone. Spellum is still in development and is not yet publicly available.

Last updated August 16, 2026

Summary

Spellum works without an account or TritSync backend. It does not use a third-party analytics SDK, advertising network, CloudKit, remote push notification, microphone access, or speech recognition.

Information kept on the iPhone

Spellum may store submitted spelling attempts, outcomes, summarized typing signals, confidence and review state, learning context, settings, sessions, streak state, and an optional reminder preference. This information supports the learning experience and stays in the app's protected local storage.

Brief keystroke timing may be used on the device to produce a summary and identify typo evidence. Spellum does not use raw, per-keystroke timestamps for general analytics.

Apple services

Apple processes App Store purchases, TestFlight feedback, crash reports, and performance diagnostics under Apple's terms and privacy practices. Spellum receives the purchase-entitlement status needed to unlock Spellum Core. TritSync does not receive complete payment-card details.

Permissions

If you choose to enable a local reminder, Spellum requests notification permission only after that action. The current release candidate does not request access to contacts, location, photos, tracking, the microphone, or speech recognition.

Retention and deletion

Learning information remains on the device until you remove it through an available app control, reset app data, or delete the app, subject to iOS backup and device behaviour. Because TritSync does not operate a Spellum account backend, we cannot retrieve or remotely delete this local learning history.

Changes

TritSync will review the privacy impact and update this notice and the App Store disclosures before introducing a backend, sync, analytics, external SDK, new permission, or newly collected data type.
